January 15, 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the Drupal 1.0.0 release. While WordPress and Drupal try to solve many of the same problems, both are thriving Open Source projects that have stood the test of time. In the battle of open vs. closed source, we’re stronger together. So we should celebrate each other’s major milestones and the communities that support them.
Recent layoffs affecting TailwindCSS framework maintainers should make everyone pause and reflect. While Tailwind is not in jeopardy, the next open source project to experience this age-old problem may not be.
November 30, 2025 marks the 7 year anniversary of my first commit to WordPress Core. To celebrate, I’ve compiled a list of statistics breaking down which areas of the code base my commits changed, and how contributors were credited in those commits.
