Hey Pressers 👋 (It’s been a minute.)
I’ve just launched something new on The WP World today, and I’m really excited to share it with you.
You can now send and receive messages in your own language – right here on the site – thanks to a brand-new multilingual feature powered by OpenAI. This update makes it easier than ever to connect across borders, even if we don’t speak the same language.
Talk to Any Presser, in Any Language
Whether you’re most comfortable writing in Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, or even something like Yoruba or Slovenian, this new feature will translate messages behind the scenes so your words come through clearly… and so does your chat partner’s.
You’ll choose your preferred language the first time you send a message. After that, the system will handle translating back and forth. (Don’t worry, you can also change it in the settings later.) It’s near-instant and works smoothly to keep the conversation natural.
How to Get Started
- Click Messages in the top bar (next to the search field).
- Or visit any Presser’s profile and click the “Message” button.
- If it’s your first time messaging, you’ll be asked to agree to some terms and pick your language from a dropdown list. That’s it. You’re ready to chat!
From there, you just type like you normally would, and the system handles the rest. You’ll see your messages translated automatically into the recipient’s preferred language, and theirs into yours.
Supported Languages (So Far)
Right now, we support over 130 languages and dialects, including:
- Major world languages: English, Spanish, Mandarin, Hindi, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, French, Japanese, German
- Regional favorites: Swahili, Bengali, Hausa, Tagalog, Urdu, Tamil, Malay, Persian, Kurdish
- And maybe even an easter egg one. See if you can spot it!
This is just the beginning. I’ll be fine-tuning things based on your feedback. If you notice a strange translation or have suggestions for improvements, don’t hesitate to reach out.
I built The WP World to be a space where every Presser feels welcome, no matter where you’re from or what language you speak. This new feature is one more step toward making that vision real and I can’t wait to see the kinds of conversations it makes possible.
