About the Event
Join us for a hands-on digital publishing lab where you’ll learn to create a publishing ecosystem that combines the flexibility of WordPress with the scholarly authority of OpenEdition. Using the department’s blog “La Bottega delle Parole” as a reference model, you’ll build and customize your own academic blog from start to finish.
This workshop is designed for students who want to develop practical skills in digital publishing while understanding how WordPress can serve as a powerful tool for academic communication and scholarly dissemination.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, you will have:
A fully configured and personalized WordPress blog
An active technical connection to OpenEdition
A clear understanding of the editorial workflow: Research → Writing → Blog Publication → OpenEdition Synchronization
What You’ll Learn
Editorial Analysis
Explore how WordPress and OpenEdition work together to create a digital memory for academic departments. We’ll analyze “La Bottega delle Parole” to understand what makes an effective scholarly communication tool—tone, structure, and content types.
Technical Setup
Create your blog from scratch and customize its aesthetics based on your own concept document. You’ll define your site’s identity, visual guidelines, and editorial strategy.
Publishing Strategy
Decide which content belongs on your blog as a “service/diary” and which content has sufficient scholarly value to be synchronized with OpenEdition.
