WordCamp Nairobi 2024: Beyond the Savannah – Connecting the Kenyan WordPress Community to the World

Introduction

WordPress is a powerful platform that empowers individuals and businesses to create beautiful and functional websites. In Kenya, the WordPress community is thriving, but there’s an opportunity to further connect Kenyan WordPress users with the global WordPress ecosystem. WordCamp Nairobi 2024, themed “Beyond the Savannah: Connecting the Kenyan WordPress Community to the World,” aims to bridge this gap by fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and international networking.

Theme Rationale

The Kenyan savannah is a vast and vibrant ecosystem, but the online world is even larger. This theme uses the metaphor of the savannah to represent the established Kenyan WordPress community. By venturing “Beyond the Savannah,” we encourage participants to explore the global possibilities of WordPress and connect with a wider network of users, developers, and enthusiasts.

Target Audience

  • WordPress users of all levels, from beginners to developers
  • Bloggers, entrepreneurs, and business owners using WordPress
  • Designers and freelancers working with WordPress
  • Anyone interested in learning more about WordPress and the global online community

Event Objectives

  • Promote international networking:Facilitate connections between Kenyan WordPress users and the global community through workshops, panels, and social events.
  • Highlight global opportunities:Showcase how Kenyan WordPress professionals can contribute to and benefit from the international WordPress ecosystem (e.g., theme development, plugin creation, freelance work).
  • Share best practices:Foster knowledge sharing between local and international speakers on various WordPress topics (e.g., design trends, development best practices, marketing strategies).
  • Celebrate the Kenyan WordPress community:Recognize the achievements and contributions of Kenyan WordPress users and showcase Kenyan talent to the world.
