The WP World is now in your pocket.

I’ve been building a WordCamp you can walk through. Today, it’s live.

September 1, 2026

WordCamp World is a free, browser-based conference adventure from The WP World. You check in, choose your character, and step into a fictional WordCamp shaped by the things that make the real events unforgettable: hallway conversations, sticker tables, sponsor demos, quiet spaces, Contributor Day, misplaced adapters, unexpected detours, and the persistent feeling that you should probably be in another room.

A WordCamp you can wander through

This is not a conference schedule with a character standing on top of it. WordCamp World is a nonlinear game with rooms to explore, people to meet, tools to use, secrets to uncover, and routes that open as you discover the right items.

The Grand Ballroom is waiting for the keynote, but you are free to wander. Stop for coffee. Help a volunteer. Visit the sponsor hall. Duck into a quiet garden. Follow a curious lead. Take the long way around and see what happens.

What’s waiting inside

  • 24 “hand-built” spaces across an open venue and its interior rooms
  • Two playable characters: a plugin tinkerer attending his first flagship WordCamp and a designer, content strategist, and meetup co-organizer
  • Sessions, Contributor Day activities, hallway encounters, and five hidden spaces to discover
  • Item-powered exploration with keys, maps, badges, tools, and passes that open new routes…. no XP grind required
  • A persistent sticker book with 32 designs, including surprise picks and duplicates you can leave for someone else
  • 13 sponsor swag collectibles scattered throughout the venue and tracked in your journal
  • Wapuu’s passport safari, with a challenge to find the small moments that make a WordCamp feel like WordCamp
  • Keyboard, gamepad, and touch controls, with instructions that adapt to the device you are using

Your route is your own

There is a story running through WordCamp World, but it does not force you down one corridor. You can chase the next objective, spend time filling your journal, hunt for sponsor swag, collect stickers, or simply explore until something catches your attention.

I’m keeping the biggest surprises out of this announcement. I will say this: the conference has a few problems that are not on the published schedule, and some of them are moving.

Play as a guest… or better yet, connect your Presser account!

You can start immediately as a guest. Your adventure is saved on your device, including your room, position, inventory, journal, and progress. If you decide to sign in with your The WP World account later, you can pick up from that exact spot instead of starting over.

Signed-in players can also connect their adventure to their Presser profile and put their verified peak Impact on the leaderboard. The goal is not to punish anyone for trying the game before creating an account; it is to let the adventure continue when you are ready to make it yours.

Built from real event rituals

WordCamp World is fictional, but its rhythm comes from real community events. It draws inspiration from the flagship WordCamps and the familiar mix of sessions, sponsor conversations, impromptu connections, contributor work, quiet corners, after-parties, and people helping one another without being asked.

That is the heart of the game. Impact does not come from defeating strangers or grinding through levels. It comes from paying attention, showing up, lending a hand, and leaving the venue a little better than you found it.

The doors are open

WordCamp World is free to play in your browser right now. No download is required. Bring your curiosity, keep an eye on the clock, and do not underestimate the hallway track.

Check in. Wander off. Make an impact. And if you see Wapuu, stop for the high-five.
