Hey, friends,
If you’ve been following the (literal) WordPress world lately, you already know—it’s been a whirlwind. There’s no shortage of podcasts, videos, and articles diving deep into the recent waves. I’m not going to add to the noise with more links, but if you're looking for a thorough recap, head over to TheWPMinute.com for a great summary.
But today, I want to talk to you directly about what’s been happening over at The WP World. To be honest… not much. And that’s hard for me to say, because my heart is still 100% with this community. The site isn’t going anywhere, but I’ve had to hit pause on active development—just for now.
I still have a list of ideas as long as your arm, and once the dust settles, I promise things will pick back up again. So, please don’t worry! The WP World is still your space, and I’m not going away.
I’ve also decided to step back from my role as a team rep for the WordPress Photo Directory. This decision wasn’t made lightly. The community elected new reps (as planned before WordCamp US), and I’ve paused my photo moderation duties for now as well.
At the end of the day, I’m taking a couple of steps back to breathe, reassess, and figure out how I can best serve this incredible community in the long run. Because, truthfully, you all mean so much to me. 🫶
I’m grateful that through all of this, only one person has requested to leave the site as they step away from the WordPress space. It’s a small but meaningful reminder that this community is strong, resilient, and built to weather storms (something I know a little something about as a Floridian). We’ll get through this chapter together. And when we do, I’ll be here—ready to keep building.
Thank you for your support, your patience, and for being a part of this with me.
With so much gratitude, Marcus |
