Event recommendations keep getting better.

Last week, I announced the addition of local recommendations for WordPress events. This lets me, you, event organizers, or local attendees (or anyone really) add their favorite restaurants, hotels, and attractions near an upcoming event.

That was the "MVP". (Sorry to trigger any folks who don't like this term.) This week, the focus was on adding the remaining pieces to this feature to make it a bit more complete.

New Features and Updates

Here is what was added this week to complete v1 of the local recommendations feature:

⬆️ Locations can be "upvoted" by anyone logged into the site and they'll be subsequently shown in order from most upvoted to least. You can see the upvotes without logging in, but you'll have to be logged in to upvote.

🎗️ A ribbon has been added for locations recommended by the organizers of an event. These will be manually added (😅) by me based on blog posts released by an event.

🏨 Somehow, hotels and AirBnBs were not initially included as a recommendation type. They are now.

🤖 When you fill in a name and address for a location on the recommendation form, an AI-generated description will be added for you.

Go ahead and recommend a local spot! (Be sure you log in to get credit for the recommendation.) More to come soon including showing more information about each location at a glance.

Rate your favorite hosts

⭐ The new-ish hosting page needs you to rate the hosts! The more ratings that people like you submit, the more valuable the page is for everyone.

If you would take a moment to log in and rate a host or two, I would be very grateful!

I'm looking for more newsletter sponsors, {name}!

Check out these new rates:

Small ad (max 3) - $25/issue, $80/month (4 issues)
Large ad (max 1) - $50/issue, $160/month (4 issues)

Would you like to sponsor this newsletter? Let me know!
